Beyond The Pole Director David Williams Pimpin’ Out SN.com & San Francisco Premiere Coverage

Did you know that Beyond The Pole director David Williams walks around with SN.com signs? No, I’m just kidding. But he does support the site and appreciate the fan’s support of Beyond The Pole, as well as everyone helping to spread the word about the Beyond The Pole facebook page. ( Psssst! If you haven’t become a fan yet, please do! Spread the word! It will help get the movie distributed so you can see Alex on the big screen at a theater near you!)

GFOXXY, SN.com fan, was there last night at the Beyond The Pole premiere in San Francisco to help promote her friend David’s movie and she brought 40 of her friends with her! All of them were carrying mini Beyond The Pole posters!

She said that everyone sincerely loved the movie and one of the crowd’s favorite scenes (besides the ones with Alex in ;) ) was “…a scene when Brian (Rhys) and his wife were talking on the radio while he is in the arctic and trying to have “radio sex” [...] the famous quote was ‘What are you wearing? Over!’ *radio static*”

Check out some more of her photos, including pics of her and David…

Here are some videos from last night’s discussion after the movie, from another fan that was in attendance:

UPDATE: The Alex fan sites are making the news along with BTP!

There’s an equally appropriate irony in the reason this low-budget flick with a tiny distributor and zero marketing budget is on the verge of becoming a hit in America — the pecs and abs of Alex Skarsgard. Between filming Pole and its release, the then unknown Swede stormed the screens in Generation Kill, but most particularly as the sensual, dark vampire Eric in True Blood.

“A lot of the way this is getting out is through the internet, and through Facebook,” Baxendale says. “Alex has this incredible, really loyal fan base — they are amazing. It’s this huge group of women who are so into him, they’re pushing for the film to be shown in every cinema in America. They’ve made little videos about it off their own back and posted them online, saying, ‘Come on, we need 10,000 fans, let’s do it for Alex and the film.’” She shakes her head. “There’s a certain amount of people power gone into this.”

A Viking Family For Alexander And His Dad?

E!Online has news on casting spoilers in regards to Eric’s Viking dad! Cue Flashback whoosh! (Bare with me, Lost is back. ;) )

Alexander and Stellan Skarsgård

Who’s your daddy? That’s the question True Blood fans are asking about Alexander Skarsgård’s Viking vampire this season, as the series plans flashbacks to medieval Scandinavia that explore Eric Northman’s origins and roots. Having already introduced (and dispatched with) Eric’s vampire progenitor, Godric (Allan Hyde), the series is now casting for Eric’s human father, King Ulfrick.

Considering that the role calls for a fluent Swedish speaker who looks like he could be Alexander Skarsgård’s father, the part just has to go to Alex’s real-life dad, internationally acclaimed actor Stellan Skarsgård, right? Here’s what we’re hearing:

We asked reps for papa Skarsgård if he would be playing Ulfrick on True Blood, and they said, “He will not.”

OK, so, bah humbug to that, but if Señor Skarsgård isn’t down for the role, who else would work? The official character description reads thusly: “In his 40s to 50s, warm, a battle-scarred Swedish Viking king, [Ulfrick] is Eric’s father, seen in a flashback to 900 A.D. Though they have a good relationship, there is some tension between father and son, because Ulfrick wants Eric to learn responsibility and behave in a manner befitting royalty…GUEST STAR (47) ACTOR MUST SPEAK FLUENT SWEDISH.”

In lieu of Stellan, fans have suggested casting Max von Sydow, Bill Nighy or Viggo Mortensen. Von Sydow and Mortensen both actually speak Swedish, and Nighy has vampire-genre experience from his work on the Underworld franchise. We like any one of those choices, but who appeals to you?

UPDATE: San Francisco ‘Beyond The Pole’ Premiere

I know a lot of you bought tickets to the Friday showing of Beyond The Pole at the film fest in San Francisco, and some of you still haven’t decided if you are going until Alex’s attendance is confirmed… Here’s the thing, he still doesn’t know if he will be able to go yet. His schedule is still up in the air. I think this is just going to be one of those last minute things where he is either going to be there, or he isn’t. You all are just going to have to take a chance.

I also wanted to let you all know that he is trying to get there. He knows some of you bought tickets in the hopes of getting to meet him, too. So, hang tight and cross your fingers. I hope for you all that he’s able to make it. Just go easy on him if he can’t. Like I said, he’s trying. ;)

UPDATE: First off, Alexander sends his apologies to those of you who are going to the Beyond The Pole premiere in San Francisco. I told him how you all were hoping he was able to make it, and how some of you were traveling from a very long distance to be there. He isn’t able to make it, though. He just got his new schedule and it’s simply impossible. He will be on set filming scenes for True Blood until 6 A.M. and then he’s up first the next filming day!  He tried, though.

Friends of Hammarby – Do Like Skarsgård, Help Us Help Hammarby Fotboll

Friends of Hammarby – Do like Skarsgård, help us help Hammarby Fotboll
2010-02-02 10:30

Hammarbys Vänner (Hammarby Friends) is an idealistic network of supporters whose aim is to help Hammarby Fotboll to make secure its finances.

Already before Allsvenskan 2009 was finished the fists were formed in the pockets at the stands at Söderstadions (Hammarby’s arena). The feeling of revenge grew stronger and stronger and one of the birds to emerge from the still smoldering ashes was the project Hammarbys Vänner.  Patrik Niklasson was the one to take an initiative and he used several Hammarby forums to find people who were interested in finding people who were interested in working with what today is Hammarbys Vänner. The group is growing in numbers day for day and consists today of more than 30 members who all work without pay to be able to offer small and medium sized companies who are sympathetic towards Hammarby the possibility to support Hammarby financially. The group has an average age of 40 and their experience ranges from entrepreneurs, salesmen, and brand managers to project managers and programmers.

The main idea is to contact small and medium sized companies and offer them the possibility to buy one (or more) of the sponsor packages the group offers. The cost for these packages range from 2500kr  and up and include everything from advertising at Söderstadion and on Hammarby Fotbolls webpage, tickets to games, stickers and the possibility to exposure at the webpage of Hammarbys Vänners in context with their activities.

More information about Hammarbys Vänner is available on their newly launched webpage (www.hammarbysvanner.se), an on facebook (www.facebook.com/hammarbysvanner) also on Twitter (www.twitter.com/hammarbysvanner).
You can also contact Patrik at patrik.niklasson@hammarbysvanner.se.

One of those who have responded to our call and the one who broke the 100.000 SEK mark was the son of Söder, Alexander Skarsgård. Hammarbys vänner have on their website published an interview with Alexander where he explains why he sees as a matter of course to help Hammarbys Vänner to help Hammarby.

- Alexander Skarsgård, what are you doing right now and how do you plan to follow Hammarby 2010?

I’ve just began the filming of True Blood, season 3 in LA.
Unfortunately Bajen is not coming here for a training camp this winter, I have seen them here for six years in a row. I will be following Bajen the next season just like I’ve been following them before, through internet when I’m here in L.A. and from the north stands when I’m in Sweden for a visit.

- How did you feel when it was decided that Hammarby had been transferred down to the Superettan?

I was mad. But, what the hell, they’ve been there before and I grew up on Söderstadion in the early 90’s when Bajen went like a yoyo between Allsvenskan and Ettan. I try to be positive. Now we are separating the wheat from the chaff. It’s easy to be a Hammarby supporter when they are winning the Swedish Championships and when the media is cuddling us. The real heroes are those who in April are standing in the stands singing “Just idag är jag stark” when Bajen is marching in.

- How did you hear about Hammarbys Vänner?

Through a friend.

- Why did you choose to sponsor Hammarby through Hammarbys Vänner?

Hammarby is my mistress. I can’t watch her suffer.

- Something else you wish to say to all the Bajen fans around the world?

The most important thing right now is to form a competent board of directors. I’m going crazy of someone is elected with the explanation “he’s a real guy with a green and white heart”. Let us on the stands be the heart, in the board we want the brains. Bajen is one of Sweden’s strongest brands. I want to see smart economists in the board who make sure to know how to optimize this.

Then I have a personal greeting to Runa: Come home!!! I know you want to…

And to all of you who are just as greatful as I am for the joy Hammarby has given us through the years, NOW is the time to show it. Hammarby needs you! Buy a sponsor package if you have the resources and if not make sure to get season tickets to Söderstadion. We will have Northern Europe’s best spectators next year as well.

Not FIRST but BIGGEST. Not BEST but MOST. Bajen against everyone 2010!!!

Alexander Skarsgård.

This song was originally by a prog rocker named “Kenta” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpCRj-pOR3o&NR=1

Here is the translated the lyrics for those who are curious …

Just today I am strong
Just today a feel good
I am carried forward by strong winds
Just today I am strong
Just today I  feel good
I have faith in myself on my side

I have waited a long time for this day
And it feels good that it’s here
Waited so long for this day
It gives pleasure when it comes

I see the flight of the seagulls
I see the dance of the glitter of the sun
I look forward to wonderful times
I see the women’s legs
I see the shine in the eyes
I have faith in myself on my side

I have waited a long time for this day
And it feels good that it’s here
Waited so long for this day
It gives pleasure when it comes

Alex Quote On How He Picks His Girlfriends

“I don’t go for really dressy women. My family has a small cottage in the middle of nowhere in Sweden, it has no phone, TV or even shower – you have to swim in the lake to wash. I love it. Taking a girl there is a good indicator of whether she’s right for me.” TRUE BLOOD star ALEXANDER SKARSGARD on how he chooses his girlfriends.
