Brentwood Theatre Needs Your Help

True Blood fans, Stephen Fry fans, Stephen Moyer fans, here’s the deal: Alexander Skarsgård’s close friend, Stephen Moyer, supports The Brentwood Theatre in London which raises funds so children can experience live theatre regardless of income. They provide transportation and low-cost / no-cost tickets for them. However, the need and the expenses continue to rise for the 2010 season. The theatre will be auctioning off a script from the TV show Extras autographed by actor Stephen Fry.

When they asked me if I would post this, the email started out with “I know you are Team Eric…” I’m Team Alex actually, but I’m also a thespian so you betcha I’m happy to post about this. Below is the full Press Release for those interested in this good cause and really cool auction!

Short Interview With Alexander Skarsgård

A Swedish blog called Onyanserat has published a short interview with Alexander Skarsgård. Onyanserat is a blog about film and television. The interview is by Christopher Panov who wrote and directed Hundtricket.

Onyanserat with Alexander Skarsgård

From a very cold Stockholm to a very hot Los Angeles. Onyanserat gives us a little talk with Alexander Skarsgård.

How are you doing?

-Fine thanks.

How does a typical day look like in your life?

-I get up, drink some tea and read DN (Swedish Newspaper) on the web, leave for work, come home, have dinner and go through next day’s scenes.

What does the spring look like?

-I’m filming season 3 of True Blood the entire spring.

I ran into an American exchange student a couple of months ago who told me he had two wishes in his life. The first one was that he would find the woman of his dreams and the second one that Eric the Viking King would get his own series.

Would you consider a spin off if there was a possibility?

-I believe Eric the Viking King could make an brilliant sitcom. Maybe it could take place in a high school environment. Something of an updated Fresh Prince.

What role has meant the most to you, besides Robinson Micke of course?

-The part of Brad Colbert in Generation Kill is probably on second place after Robinson Micke.

Do you get a lot of offers from Sweden?

-Not very much.

Which is the biggest difference between Swedish and American film?

-The hierarchy is more obvious in the USA.

Some quick questions:

Film: A Prophet
Actors: Jeff Bridges won a well deserved Oscar this year.
Director: I would love to work with the Coen brothers.
Line: They pissed on my fuckin rug (The Big Lebowski)
Tagline: When you deal a fast shuffle… Love is in the cards. (The Lady Eve)
TV: the Colbert Report
Presenter of a program: Bill Moyers
For 10 million you would do the part of? Myself.
The most undervalued actor? Woody Harrelson.
Thank you Alex for taking the time.
-You’re welcome!

Is it OK if I mail you some crazy ideas for Hundtricket 2?

-DO IT!!!

Christopher Panov

Alexander Skarsgård Participates In Earth Hour

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Sweden has issued a press release March 11 2010, in order to initiate this year’s Earth Hour. Part of the press release has been translated.

This year more countries than ever before are participating in Earth Hour. 103 countries are participating compared to the 88 that took part last year. And as usual Sweden is one of the most dedicated countries in the world.

Saturday March 27 2010 8.30 PM the world’s largest climate manifestation will take place. Through a simple act – to turn off the light for one hour – you will show your support for the climate and at the same time you will urge the world’s leaders to act in the climate problem. The royal family, the environment minister, actors, businesses, school children, adventurers and families, well everybody will take part.

– It’s an important signal to the world’s leaders that the Earth Hour is bigger than ever before. And to our Swedish politicians that Sweden is one of the most dedicated countries in the world. This year Earth Hour is about solving the climate problem and that is why we are starting a competition where cities with the most effective activities to lower their climate emissions can become Earth Hour Capital 2011, says Mariann Eriksson, Head of Communications at WWF in Sweden.

Ambassadors for Earth Hour are the actors Lena Olin och Michael Nyqvist and the adventurer Ola Skinnarmo. Other famous participants are Professor Christian Azar, Amelia Adamo, the actors Alexander Skarsgård, Noomi Rapace and Stellan Skarsgård.

Facts: Last year Earth Hour was a huge success here in Sweden. According to statistics from Sifo 4,8 million Swedes (64% of the population) in the age range between 15-74 year old participated and a whopping 99% of the Swedes knew they had to turn off the light.

Earth Hour was started 2007 by WWF in Australia when Sydney turned off its lights. It became a huge success and the next year the initiative spread to 35 countries and 50 million people participated. Earth Hour 2009 resulted in the largest global manifestation ever with closer to a billion participants in 4000 cities in 88 countries.
