Note To The Fans: Alexander Filming In Sweden
UPDATE: I do have Alex’s management backing me up on this completely. Officially.
Yes, Alexander is filming in Sweden now. No, do not plan a trip to try to visit him. Please. No one wants this to turn into another Straw Dogs set episode with people making 3 or 4 trips to hang out in his hotel for hours just to see him. He’s not going to be in Stockholm, he’s going to be staying in a private location with high security. The set is also private. And if I have to, I will warn him as soon as I hear the first stories of fans going to try to see him.
I don’t do this to be mean to the fans, there is a time and place for you to meet Alex; A chance encounter on the street, a public event, etc. etc. But going out of your way to meet him when he is somewhere trying to concentrate on his work? Making multiple visits? Or, like last time, fans were booking the hotel room next to his so they could listen to see if he was having sex or not. Some were hanging out of their hotel room windows memorizing his daily schedule. Some knew his damn jogging route and where he did his laundry. Not cool.
I would feel a lot more comfortable putting up information I get, if I knew people weren’t going to try to use it to try to hunt him down.
He’s a talented actor; let him concentrate on what he does best so we can all enjoy his performance in Melancholia.

And this is the reason I come here …. because of your integrity. I also believe that Alexander has no obligation what-so-ever to hop on a plane and fly thousands of miles to show up for an hour panel at Comic Con. This is his life, his work and his future and if we are really a fan we will respect not only his decisions but his privacy.

Mind boggling that people would go to those extremes. Fair enough to go to his public appearances but to book into a hotel room and memorize schedules. I have enough problems remembering my own never mind other people’s.

One would suppose that the prospect of making a complete fool of yourself in the middle of nowhere is sufficient deterrence. Your appeal to reason should not be necessary (and is most likely lost on people determined to stalk him).

I’ve never met Alex, and I’m going to have to let it happen by complete chance , if it ever DOES happen… Or when I get married next year and my husband can’t dump me that easily for wanting to meet a celebrity LOL! I would love to meet him, but if I have to hang out in the trash dumpster that is next to where he parked his car that would be just a little too much. lil- no one could have put it better themselves, and for that, you are admired and loved.. we all appreciate everything you do for us in the name of alex, and it’s a pity to think that there are those that find it appropriate to behave this way.

Some people’s grasp of reality is a little slippery, apparently. How sad (and scary) that you have to post something like this. Fans come with the territory of being one of the sexiest men alive, but this level of adoration (read – obsession) could send him packing his bags for the sanity of Sweden permanently. I hope your warning is heeded and that Alex has a hassle-free period of time to work on his films.
While you’re at it, can we ask girls not to squee through his parts in movie theaters? I saw Beyond the Pole a few months ago and several women screeched through his limited (and short) scenes. I missed most of his dialogue, and it’s not like it ever opened here in the States except for film festivals so that I cold go see it again.
I mean, I get it. He’s damn attractive. It’s hard not to fall to pieces. But, just saying.
Glad I saw Straw Dogs before it opens… there was screaming, but for quite different reasons. LOL.

Thanks for the post — you would think common sense would prevail, but apparently, it does not. Unfortunately, this is the downside any celebrity has to pay for fame and success. Alex has always been so gracious with his time to his fans (the reason why we love him so much). Don’t let the bad apples spoil it! Are you feelin’ me?
Agree completely. This is exactly the reason why I choose to be a member here – because we can squee and appreciate and drool with the best of them, BUT we also know where the line is.

Here, here. I work in the industry and I can’t tell you how annoying and horrifying it is to have to deal with stalker fans. It’s ridiculous and crazy and the celebs hate that crap.

If we consider ourselves Alex real fans then the best we can do is respect his privacy and also his work too,that’s the least he deserves given he’s always willing to please his fans as much as he’s able to..so,let him do his job so we all could enjoy a great performance in both Melancholia and Battleship..I’m sure Alex will appreciate it a lot and surely will be very proud of his group of fans
I think it’s absolutely horrifying what people can do, to meat their crush, but honestly, (and unfortunately!
), I dont think that the really crazy stalkers will be stopped by ANYONE begging them not to, even if it came straight out of Alex mouth.
I truly hope for him, that he will have a god time in Sweden, and that he gets to relax a little from both crazy stalker-fans, and the paps. Even though he has choosen a public profession doesn’t meen that he isn’t a real person, who deserves som privacy!
I’m also a fan of Hugh Jackman’s – and some of the stalker behavior of his fans is unbelievable. And they think they’re close friends because he said ‘Hi’ to them and signed an autograph. (A lot of them have literally hundreds of autographs from hanging out at the stage door EVERY SINGLE NIGHT when he did “Boy From Oz”)
It’s sad when fans cross the line like that.
I’ve been on sets (my friend was a nanny for a movie star) but didn’t embarrass myself by asking for autographs or even taking photos.
If I’m going to stalk anything in Trollhattan, it’s not going to be AS, it’s going to be actual trolls. Which, when I find one, will be brought home and put next to my desk at work, so I shall not be bothered by people who can’t read the sign ‘do not go behind my desk’.

@Blondie unfortunately I agree with you. The hardcore crazies will never stop being hardcore crazies, however some people, read non-stalkers, sometimes genuinely think it would be okay to jump in there since they don’t have any harsh intentions or whatever.
Which was the case of some people on the SD incident, but some regretted when they heard people were very annoyed/creeped at the general behavior.
I think its good sometimes to remind people of reality

cr, you should have been a tory MP. You’d have been able to claim your moat on expenses then. Not sure what Parliamentary policy is on trolls, the purchase and upkeep thereof, might ahve to research that. Check whether you need to list it as your second troll to get the full benefits
Well, I guess I’m lucky then to be living in Sweden and actually spotting him by chance. Are americans really so uncomposed that they won’t leave the celebrities alone? I mean, over here he’s probably a bigger star than in the US since we don’t have all that many, but he can still walk around town and have coffee without sunglasses, without papas, and without getting run over by luniacs. Just like our royal family, or politicians, or the weather guy (whom I hear actually have been attaced by someone who was very dissapointed in the crappy weather). Celebrities are people too.
I may be alone in this feeling, but I think actually meeting him would ruin it for me. That and I’d probably puke on my self… lol.
I think that its much more fun to just imagine running into him on the street, with the smile and taking pictures, and making my life complete by asking me to marry him would all be ruined if I made it happen.
I’m very happy to see that fan sites are urging fans to respect him.
And it might help to just not post things that reveal his locations, what kind of car he drives, or the neighborhood he lives in. I think its just asking for trouble from the crazies… but thats just me. Clearly I am strange.
@JamNHam, do I have to be a Tory MP? I think I’d have to sell all of my soul (as opposed to only part of it if I were LibDem or NewLab). OTOH, maybe I could bring my troll with me to Parliament sessions-it would be especially entertaining during Question Time.
I was lucky enough to meet an absolute hero of mine recently when I won a competition to meet and interview him. It was a lovely way for it to happen, because i had a little time to talk to him, ask him questions and get autographs in a pleasant controlled way. He knew he’d be meeting fans (there were 4 of us) and so was happy, relaxed and prepared to “do the fan thing”. I’d rather have that kind of opportunity once in a lifetime than springing something on someone in a potentially inconvenient moment. The biggest shopping mall near me is seemingly popular with a number of soap stars from some of the UK’s biggest shows, and I’ve spotted a few of them there, but I don’t approach them, because I figure they deserve some downtime for retail therapy, just the same as I do!
