Glamour Magazine’s Faces To Watch 2010

A Face to Watch in 2010
Alex has made Glamour Magazine’s list of 40 faces to watch in 2010 along with his True Blood costar, Rutina Wesley.
Alexander Skarsgaard Skarsgård
Age: 33
Star Quality: The son of Mamma Mia actor Stellan Skarsgård, Alexander is well used to life on a film set. He’s already made waves as Eric in True Blood and appeared in Lady GaGa’s controversial “Paparazzi” video and, with his thriller 13 out this year, there’ll be plenty of opportunity to gaze upon his lovely Scandinavian features.

I could gaze upon his lovely Scandinavian features all day, everyday <3
I can't believe they misspelled his last name =/
The truly funny thing is that they spelled Stellan’s last name correctly, but not Alex’s. All the while they acknowledge that Alex is Stellan’s son. OOPS! lol.

Si l’on peut le contempler plus souvent, je n’ai aucun problème avec ça… Oh que non!
C’est un très bel homme.
omg Simba I notice that too and was like *eye roll* lol
Lol that really is ridiculous.
Well, it’s nice to see that proper editing is alive and well
Are they kidding? Something like that should NEVER make it to print. As an English teacher, I’m appalled.
Leaving aside the grammar mistake about Alex last name I’m glad he is getting more and more recognition and appreciation for his talent and ability to perform many different roles apart from his obvious handsome features…definately he’s one to follow and watch through 2010 and many years to come.
Ummmm? *looks around Skarsland*….This IS the face WE have been watching all this time? NO?
*giggles* God I love being the one to say “I told you so”!!!
Although I do miss when NOBODY knew who he was…….(sigh)
I’m with ya on that last point Angel.
And, not for selfish reasons, either. It seems that he’s getting more and more attention lately, and it’s not all positive. Unfortunately, the “not-so-brights” were bound to discover him and begin to invade his privacy at some point, I guess. I just hope (for his sake) that it dies down a little. There are so many lies being spread around and It’s just awful.
I hate that whole celebrity thing.
I couldn’t agree more dncr2.
It’s pretty troubling and I think he’s doing the best he can to just look the other way.
there were words? oohh I see them now…*sigh*
What astounds me is that people are JUST NOW getting how great he is. Can it really have been almost two years since this golden god first strode across my TV screen and made me sit up and take notice? I think it’s GREAT that he’s getting more attention and bigger roles. Yes, unwanted negative attention comes with that, but he’s gunning for total world domination!! And hey…some people are just jealous. And if I may be so crude, just let me say, fuck the haters. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…if Alex decides to just chuck it all tomorrow and become an architect, then I’ll be fangirling over a Swedish architect. “I just love the portico Alex designed. I can’t wait to see what he does with that gambrel!”
He can design a modern Scandinavian lodging for me any day!
Fan bases practically turn with the tides. I’m sure a pretty face will distract those less than honest fans soon. Then the paparazzi attention on AS will calm down, a little, and he will really be able to enjoy his acting career. … and so will we!
I know right? I’ve been looking for movies that Alex did from a couple years to ten years ago and I am so in AWE of his acting abilities, it’s ridiculous!! Even in all his Swedish films he is amazing!! I just wish I knew about him before all this craziness.
Lol @SKemigh…you’re too cute.
Well, I work for architects, and I sincerely hope the he doesn’t become one!
I think it’s inevitable that he’s going to blow up on the celebrity scene. I gave up hope of having him all to myself ages ago (muhahahaha). I just hope he retains his nice demeanor and avoids the botox!
I feel like he might be the Scandinavian version of George Clooney. Cause in my opinion, I think he’s aging really well. I honestly think he’s gotten more handsome with age :] I feel like we can see the determination, experience and eagerness in his face. Especially in his eyes <3
Agreed! He is amazingly expressive with his eyes. He jokes on the GK commentary “no words but so much acting going on” and its funny because its true! That’s why he’s a strong actor. A friend got her hands on a poorly subbed ‘Exit’ (because she’s a Mads Mikkelsen fan) and we didn’t have a hard time understanding anyone. I wouldn’t be able to quote it but AS was wonderful with so few words! I doubt he’d get any plastic surgery. He won’t need it either, can I point out how good Stellan looks?
I think Alex went through the normal course of things being in the entertaintment business as it takes sometimes a few years to be already and really noticed by the media and the critics even though not by his true fans….but he was very patient, worked hard to get better roles and improve his acting skills and here’s the outcome..the recoginition and admiration he deserves…true that not everything is wonderful but fame usually has a negative and dark side that unfortunately every actor used to go through at some point but being in his 33 and knowing the ground he’s walking on Alex it’s fair to say is managing to deal with it quite well and focus on what it is really important for him right now…
And I agree about the George Clooney comment,Alex is bound to age as good as George is and probably will be even handsome and sexier in his 40s´…and surely his talent and ability to get a lot of award nominations will increase too…
I just need to say that 33 is not old. Not that anyone suggested it is! I just hate the term “ageing”. Why not “blossoming” or “ripening”? Men reach a level of attractiveness in their 30s that they lack in the years before that. I still fancy his dad and he’s like what? 90?
The whole Skargsard family has just been really blessed as far as genes go.
I’m actually 37 and I don’t feel at all like being old,in fact I think I’m on the best moment of my life …so obviously Alex is just a kid with just 33 years old….LOL….growing old or even ageing is not a bad thing, quite the opposite as it makes you richer, wiser and gives you more experience and maturity throughout the years and I’m sure it will be Alex case..
And Alex dad Stellan is just 58 but keeping as attractive and interesting as if he were younger if not more…no wonder Alex and all his brothers and sister have that appealling Swedish charm
I just got off of Purse Forum and someone there posted a Tweet from someone who was at the pre party for the Golden Globes last night at the Chateau Marmont. Apparently, our beloved viking was there last night in his gray suit holding hands with a gorgeous brunette who was shorter than him (who isn’t?). No sign of KB. Also, I watched a swedish move on the Sundance channel yesterday called Evil with Gustav Skarsgard. Man was he mean. Great acting obviously runs in the family. He is also a giant.
Nancy,
I’d take that with a grain of salt.
Dncr2,
You’re probably right. I guess it’s just wishful thinking on my part that he find his true love and live HEA.
Comparing Alexander Skarsgard to George Clooney is a bit lazy imo. IMO George Clooney cannot act. One cannot compare the two on any level. I think ppl who lack imagination and a creative muscle always want to put other ppl in boxes and label them. If you watch Om Sara, Iron Angels, Killi your Darlings, Cuppen and Generation Kill just to mention a few of his movies…you can see that he can act and is very talented. Broaden your mind, get some of the above movies and have a swedish week.
Well, I think you may have misunderstood the comparison. It wasn’t about the acting…it was just about the aging. They always say that George Clooney has aged really well and some say he’s as handsome now then he was in his younger days. Granted, Alex has always look really handsome and charming all throughout his life, but as he ages, he still remains just as so but you see a more matured and manly appeal instead of just saying “he’s hot.”
Lol I don’t really think anyone even mentioned the acting comparison at all. We were just discussing how well they both have matured with their looks. And that’s just our opinion of course.
And I for one agree that I really like Alex’s acting…or else I wouldn’t be a part of this website. And as a matter of fact, I HAVE see all the movies/shows you listed as well :]
